Edward O'Leary - Attorney

In addition to his accomplishments in commercial litigation practice, Attorney O'Leary also has significant experience in defending life, health and disability insurance matters on behalf of insurers, self-insureds, and third-party claim administrators. Attorney O'Leary's representation includes a broad array of issues arising in the context of group and individual insurance, including claims made under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ("ERISA").

Attorney O'Leary has obtained summary judgment and appellate relief on behalf of his clients on numerous occasions. Among other things, he has successfully argued that plans have a right to discontinue benefits where a plaintiff lacks evidence of an on-going disability, and that certain state law claims are preempted. Attorney O'Leary's ERISA practice is not limited to the courts of Massachusetts. He currently represents clients in matters pending in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Maine.
